Today 27.01 Sony announces models of 2007 year: Sony Handycam DCR-SR42E, DCR-SR62E, DCR-SR82E, DCR-SR200E and DCR-SR300E. All of them rate like video cameras for travel fans. So it’s for me. I’m so “happy” because I paid abt. $1000 for 3CCD Panasonic only two years ago! And it was a really useful device for my favorite Thailand’ travels, its details you can see in my own The Thai Tramp blog. At first I was thinking: its trouble I must change the camera. But later I was looking for real innovations among those camcorders. For comparison I took HDR-HC7 and HDR-SR1 specifications. These cameras cost US$1400 and US$1500. I made a table to find new features easier and quicker.

What can I say about it? There is nothing useful! First three have tiny sensor size. I think it’s bad for HD. The next two have the same 1/2,9” and 1/3” ClearVid CMOS sensors as well-known HDR-HC7 and HDR-SR1. They have a bigger pixel gross but I don’t want to pay for superfluous pixels. It’s not for making a good film. It’s for making a big sensor noise. It’s for making good money for Sony! Why has my old Panasonic 3 CMOS sensors for low resolution films? I think that HD-camcorder must be more equipped. Now I’m happy - my Panasonic can live! Sony have a great camcorder HDR-FX7 with three 1/4" ClearVID CMOS Sensors. But it costs US$3500 and has not a useful size. I’m in waiting.
