There is infinitely much information concerning lenses for Canon and Nikon SLR cameras. It is easy to find even lenses for Sony DSLRs, inherited from Konica-Minolta. Instead Olympus lenses, which are not so famous among professionals and advanced photographers, appear less frequently in the Net. I can’t visit a trade delegates or an exhibition hall to test these lenses. I don’t have an Olympus camera body. However I am quite interested in comparing cameras and observing the market and trading trends. So I gathered a few reviews and prices of all best lenses and call your attention to the list. ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 70-300mm F4.0-5.6
This telephoto lens delivers 4.28x zoom up to focal length equivalent of 300mm (600mm on a 35mm camera system) and designed for the specific demands of digital photography. This is lightweight and compact (dimensions 78 x 84.5mm, weight 435g) 10x standard zoom lens covered to the range of distinct telephoto effect. It is equivalent to 36-360mm on a 35mm camera. The almighty lens can cover most of shooting scene. The closest focusing distance is down to 45cm in entire zoom area, and 0.23x (equivalent to 0.46x on a 35mm camera) of magnification allows you close-up shots. Lens construction include 15 Elements in 13 Groups, 2 ED lenses and 2 Aspherical lenses and compensate each aberration to give the high-performance in entire zoom area. ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 40-150mm F4.0-5.6
This is smallest and lightweight (dimensions 65.5 x 72 mm, w eight 220 g) cost-efficient 3.8x telephoto lens. It is equivalent to 80-300mm on a 35mm camera. Lens construction includes 12 Elements in 9 Groups and 1 ED Lens Element for optimum correction of chromatic aberrations. Incorporating a circular aperture diaphragm for beautiful defocusing, this lens assures high picture quality throughout the zoom range, as well as providing an astonishingly short closest focusing distance of 90cm throughout the zoom range. Its Angle of View is 30 to 8.2 degree. Lens cost abt. $ 280.
ZUIKO DIGITAL 14-45mm F3.5-5.6
This 3.2x standard zoom lens is portable and covers the zoom range of 28-90mm on a 35mm camera, most frequently used in normal shooting. Lens construction includes 12 Elements in 10 Groups and 2 Aspherical Lens Elements and compensates aberrations well to provide fine performance in entire zoom area. Its Angle of View is 27 to 75 degree. It cost $230.
ZUIKO DIGITAL 17.5-45mm F3.5-5.6
It’s available only in the E-500 Lens Kit. This ultra light and compact 2.6x standard zoom lens is equivalent to 35-90mm on a 35mm camera. You can enjoy close-up shooting with a minimum focusing distance down to 28cm in entire zoom area, and 0.23x (equivalent to 0.46x on a 35mm camera) of magnification. Lens construction includes 7 Elements in 7 Groups and 2 Aspherical lenses and compensate each aberration to give the high image quality in entire zoom area. Its Angle of View is 63 to 27 degree.
ZUIKO DIGITAL 35mm F3.5 Macro
This ultra lightweight macro lens has dimensions 71 x 53mm and weight 165g. The focal length is equivalent to 70mm on a 35mm camera and it has a very good cost performance. You do not need any extensions to get 1:1 (life-size) magnification (equivalent to 2 xs on a 35mm camera). You can bring this compact lens everywhere, and enjoy taking close-up pictures in your daily scenes, such as, flowers and insects. It is also useful as a standard lens for landscape, snap shots and portrait photography. Its closest focusing distance is 0.146m and angle of View is 34 degree. Lens cost abt. $195.
